I often hear the question asked how do I make a site turn a profit?
The answer is to BLOG!
As you know the way the web is being used has changed significantly. It is no longer being used for just stagnant information it is making companies intereact with their users! Wheather it be via Blog, Forum, Chat or message boards companies like DELL, MICROSOFT, GOOGLE and many more are making their websites more interactive!
When you have a interactive website you have the oppurtunity to do alot of things like: Datamine your audience, advertise, get pageviews by making your site fun and more lucrative for users to stay! If your users feel they got something of value free…….they will comeback and do it all over again.
Seriously people running a website or blog is not a charity you need to invest into your site by marketing the crap out of it. What I mean more specifically is to buy some adwords, text links and such…….
WHY IS A BLOG so GOOG-A-LICIOUS? Thinks urself about it…………..the very design of a blog is to promote a blog network………..the biggest linkfarm ever! Rock-on BLOG

????Can DIGG and REDDIT????= Jail time?
Lets find out….
????I recently made a funny post about someone large and I got an e-mail asking me to remove their name from my post! I refused and reffered them to my lawyer as I didn’t do anything wrong and branded their name correctly! What do you guys think? I try to write witty taglines and titles to gain traffic but will it actually land me in jail or with a fine? I highly doubt it but here is some info on driving traffic SAFELY!
I recently read an article from a decent seo site on how to increase blog traffic! I think I agree with everything except for #18. It says that only one in twenty of your posts you should use as linkbait!
I dont know about his thoughts but if you aren’t creative enough to make a sharp title and have quality content everytime then maybe you should consider moving to a new idea!
Here is my tips:
DONT SLANDER A COMPANY! (but rumors are O.K.)
BE CREATIVE NOT RETARDED
KEEP IT FRESH (atleast 3 times a day)
PUT YOUR POSTS IN RELEVANT CATEGORIES (like in digg or subreddit’s)
DO IT EVERYTIME (your users will tell you if it sucks thats how digg and reddit works!)
IF YOU RUN OUT OF IDEAS GO TO A NEWS SITE (often times people like opinions)
BOOKMARK ME AND COMEBACK (I leave a little sour taste in your mouth you know it)

Everyone has different ideas about what search engines, specifically google look for in a website and its content. Most ideas are on the same path but often differ by a just a little bit and some are way crazy off!
Luckily google provided us a list of guidelines here:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769
I will bold really important stuff.
Quality guidelines from google????- basic principles
- Make pages for users, not for search engines. Don’t deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as “cloaking.”
- Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you’d feel comfortable explaining what you’ve done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, “Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn’t exist?”
- Don’t participate in link schemes designed to increase your site’s ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
- Don’t use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold??????? that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.
Quality guidelines – specific guidelines
- Avoid hidden text or hidden links.
- Don’t employ cloaking or sneaky redirects.
- Don’t send automated queries to Google.
- Don’t load pages with irrelevant words.
- Don’t create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
- Don’t create pages that install viruses, trojans, or other badware.
- Avoid “doorway” pages created just for search engines, or other “cookie cutter” approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.
- If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.????

???? Use both the ALT and the TITLE attributes of your images – they are given about the same weight by search engines. However, note that different browsers treat them differently.
???? Don????????t forget that every HTML element can be stylized by CSS. The H1 tag is given big importance by search engine spiders, but you might not like its default look. Just apply some stylization, and it can even be masked as normal inline text.
???? While optimizing the HTML code of your pages is an important aspect of SEO, it is not the only one. Even if your pages are in their best shape, all the effort is for naught if the search engine spiders don????????t reach you. After initial optimization, take a minute to submit the site to a few directories or engines.
???? Remember that your site is visited not only by search engine robots, but by humans as well. Try to keep balance between user-friendliness and keyword optimization, if you plan on converting your visitors to paying customers.
???? Having your site ranked well on the results page doesn????????t mean that it always will be. Your competition isn????????t sleeping, and your site????????s position is constantly being targeted by dozens of other sites. Be sure to make regular updates, and optimize any new pages you add.
???? Avoid using one-word keywords, as they are too general to bring real customers to your site. When a serious surfer types a search query, it will often consist of a product name, or a specific type of merchandise. For example, if your site deals in beds, consider optimizing some of your pages for “cheap adjustable beds,” or “metal bunk beds” for example
