Is Google protecting it’s users from harmful material? Or is it denying to allow content by some in hopes to gain a wider audience?
Sometimes the morals of capitalism are only effected by how much money stands to gained or by how much could possibly be lost.
According to Forbes, a U.S. District Court Judge dismissed a claim where a man sued Google because they would not allow the use of their AdWords service to the plaintiff for the content it promoted.
The content in question was apparently to promote websites which ‘criticize’ polititians from North Carolina and the Chinese Government. As well, both of which will never be used in the same sentence again.
…Remember, Google is trying to break ground with Google.cn where the company promissed to filter its content at the requirement of the Chinese Government. As for North Carolina, who knows, maybe they are lobbying?
Quote–
The two lucrative advertising “sin sectors”–gambling and adult content–have long been out of bounds in search advertising. But political ads and ads from controversial nonprofit agencies–perhaps those most likely to invoke Google’s content policy–don’t reap many dollars, says Todd.

And that is exactly what it boils down to. The voice of morals and opinions are determined by the party whom could potentially yield the higher profits.
Just some food for thought..
